Stone basin with cherry leaves, outside the entrance to the Japanese Garden, Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Another "lost" set of photos which I'd uploaded to Flickr, but never blogged. These are from a year-and-a-half ago, in November of 2005. Again, irritating that the "improved" Blogger won't let me back-date them to the date I took the photos.
My parents were visiting with us, so they show up in several photos.

I love your photography! Especially the leaves in the shrubbery -- those reds and golds are so intense. Seeing this makes me realize I really need to check out the Japanese garden! (I can't believe I haven't been yet!)
Thanks, Steve! That particular shrub is in the Mixed Perennial Border right outside the entrance to the Gift Shop.
The Japanese Garden has its own treasures. As beautiful as it is, I would recommend avoiding it during Hanami, the peak Cherry viewing season, when it's just packed with tourists. I enjoy the Japenese Garden most when it's relatively unpopulated and quiet.
I've never been to this place but have thought about it several times since I first came across one of your blog references to it.
Thanks for taking me there.
Maybe soon I'll get to go in person.
How gorgeous... I hope you don't mind that your pics of the leaves in the stone basin is now my computer background. (If you have a flat screen like a laptop screen, set it as yours and then view it from different angles... fascinating!)
CC: I have lots of photos of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Check out my other posts tagged BBG [blogspot, technorati]. You can also look at my Flickr collection of all my BBG sets.
BSG: I'm flattered. I love that stone basin. It has seasons and moods just like the gardens do.
And my Dad will be glad to see your comment!
Some fine photos! That first one of the leaves in the basin is a keeper for sure!
This is lovely! So serene, it soothes my soul (which needs it). So thank you for sharing this precious photo.
